"HELLO INFIDELITY"! Goodbye 70s and hard rock! Welcome 80s and AOR!

With this "best seller" album, the REO Speedwagon of 1980 marked a turning point in their career that would catapult them into the musical stratosphere! Coming off two excellent hard rock/soft rock albums like "You Can Tune a Piano, but You Can't Tuna Fish" and "Nine Lives" (works capable of bringing credibility and relative commercial success to the band), the REO decided to enter the 80s by softening their harder rock side and transforming it into a sparkling, fresh, brilliant, and quality pop rock! The result is extraordinary: "Hi Infidelity" didn’t just bring the Speedwagon to the top 20/15 or 10 on the charts where they had never been...no, folks: this album would become the best-selling in the United States for the year 1981!

"Hi Infidelity" is the classic impeccable pop/rock album! Everything aligns perfectly in this album, marking a definitive stylistic shift from the band's recent past... (including the well-crafted and attractive cover in full 80s style!). There are no weak tracks on this album. Each song works and finds its space in the tracklist! Among them, stand-out tracks like the pulsating "Don't Let Him Go" and the wonderful "Take It On the Run" with its acoustic soul remain famous. However, mention is also due for other lesser-known yet equally stunning pieces like the energetic "Follow My Heart" and the final emotionally charged "I Wish You Were There." But above all others, there’s one particular track that led the album and REO Speedwagon to glory: "KEEP ON LOVING YOU" is the perfect single! Memorable verses, legendary chorus, and in between, a beautiful electric guitar break that impeccably wraps up a piece that made history! The stratospheric success of this single earned it the number one spot among hits for dozens of consecutive weeks, selling over 10 million copies of the album and making REO Speedwagon famous among young people worldwide who weren’t even born in the 80s. It so happened that in 2002, the hugely popular video game "GTA Vice City" chose "Keep On Loving You" as part of its soundtrack.

Hi Infidelity and Keep On Loving You granted REO Speedwagon a golden decade and a place among the greats of world music. Subsequently, in 1984, the fabulous "Can't Fight This Feeling" further strengthened their phenomenal success, earning them an invitation to participate in one of the most important musical events in music history: the LIVE AID of 1985!

Dear REO, you’ve truly earned that period of glory! The pop/rock done your way is not a "second-rate" genre to be snubbed! Thank you for the many beautiful songs you have given us! With the hope that one day you can come to perform a concert in Italy, because even here with us (and not just in the United States) there are people who appreciate and remember you... (including us young from the "Vice City" generation ready to take the front rows under your stage!) 😊😜😉 From our old PlayStation 2s, your notes still echo, accompanying us as children during the many games played. You represent a small piece of our childhood, and for that, we will always love you!❤️
