Who among you remembers Panic Room?! I imagine very few (or maybe not?!), but that said, here we are facing the new creation born from the minds of the musicians involved in that project, Redrum04. Referring back to the original band and comparing it artistically to the current one, we can say they have very little in common: if in the first case we were talking about what was in vogue at the Beginning of the New Millennium (see crossover/nu metal), in the new incarnation we are instead faced with a group dedicated to alternative rock that makes melody its vital point without neglecting distorted sounds and groove. "A New Era" I think is the perfect title to highlight this clear artistic shift, where in tracks like "Zero Dark" and "Dirty Consequence" (first single released) you can strongly feel the atmospheres dear to Nickelback, while in others like "New Day" and "Wake Up," it's the drive of Incubus that is highlighted. Musically, it's an album that sounds exactly as it should, without any smudges or elements out of place - moving between alternative and melodic rock - we could say the same about the vocal parts where melodic tones now dominate every track. The only sore point is the artwork, really ugly. In conclusion, "A New Era" is an album as simple as it is effective, destined for an audience that has already passed its teenage phase and is looking for a well-made product that is at the same time easy listening.
