Debut for Ashler, a band from Ecuador that recorded this "January 13th" in 2006 (it was a Friday, to be precise).

Intro + 5 songs of a hard-to-define genre; we are in the metal realm, it's true, but while the album is introduced by a keyboard track with a vaguely gothic flavor, which, to tell the truth, is not very original, the following episodes offer rock and prog hints.

It's in the third track "Ludens" that we can appreciate for the first time the vocal talents of the beautiful Diana, although it's the subsequent "Invierno" that might be the most successful and melancholic song. The melodies are peculiar, especially in the final "Thanks To No One", which offers a good interplay between the two guitars of Luisfer and JC.

Surely some arrangements need to be refined, the recording (particularly the guitar sounds) needs to be made more "decisive", but this first demo is promising for the next work of the quintet from the province of Quito.

ZOT !
