THE REVIEW

Days a bit like this, huh? The sciatica not giving you a break? The Imu not letting you sleep peacefully? Try soothing your ailments with Real Estate.

To tell the truth, there's little summer about it; we're more on a beach in early November where the only silhouette on the horizon is that of a mobster walking his dog. Sullen and sly "Days" seems to want to disillusion us "Hey, we're alone in the world, what can you do?". Don't be fooled, it's easy to say they move in dreamy territories, who am I to refute that? But if you pay a little attention, you'll notice there’s more substance. As sung in "It's Real", it’s all firmly real, lucid, anchored to the listener who isn’t allowed to wander too much. And here lies the beauty, these edgy guitars grow on you little by little, "Out Of Tune" serves as a propaedeutic warning about it. Melodies dusted with decadence, a bit old-fashioned like the bucolic "Wonder Years" sounds. My favorite "Three Blocks" is a master of melancholy, with the moans between verses absolutely top-notch. Even the closing is a bit sparse with "Younger Than Yesterday" and its Grandaddy-style guitar and "All The Same", an inspired and also covertly angry track.

So take off the wigs, these young men have quite a few grievances to soothe; an album to be savored from top to bottom.
