Album: Shotgun Justice
Band: Razor
Year: 1990
Label: Diabolic Force
Genre: Thrash

Line-Up:
Adam Carlo (Bass),
Dave Carlo (Guitars),
Rob Mills (Drums),
Bob Reid (Vocals)

This album, apart from being remembered (at least by me :) ) for having one of the ugliest covers of all time, is absolutely a top-notch thrasher!

Contents:
I would start immediately with Bob Reid's voice. It sounds like a kind of young Lemmy from Motorhead but much grittier (maybe he had more pimples? :) ), really some tracks borderline on insanity and will bring smiles to your face!
I don't know who wrote the lyrics (maybe the guitarist, ed.) anyway, they are in some cases laugh-out-loud funny, obviously taken with the due distances and irony...
The guitars are vicious and the riffs simple but not too much, a technical level that will satisfy almost every palate.
The bass/bassist is simply great! It has a hint of hardcore in some tracks and the lines perfectly match the attitude of the songs.
The drums are fast and well-executed, although slightly underwhelming compared to the rest...

Contents:
I love this album! The opening song "Miami" is great, it almost seems like an anthem for the angry tourist (and I don't know if it's intentional or not but it makes me laugh a lot!). All the tracks are really fantastic, nothing banal or trite (considering we're talking about thrash, you'll surely find references to other bands, mostly Slayer...).
Also beautiful is "American Luck", where the writer notes (Razor are Canadian) an aversion to American bands and the ease with which they manage to sell and succeed (listen to the initial bass piece!).
There are also calmer moments (so to speak), such as in "Meaning Of Pain", another of my favorites!

How it sounds (production):
Mediocrely powerful, the sound of the guitars is notably open and dry (no "meat"), I have to say that during the first listens it caused me some difficulty but once accustomed...
A note of merit to the bass sound which I find terrific!

References:
The band is not very well known but this album (and the one preceding it and the next one) deserves the attention of all thrash listeners. Razor has been around since 1984 and recorded their last album in 1997.
