The Profile

Rats are an Italian band from Spilamberto (Modena). They debuted with the post‑punk/dark‑wave LP C’est Disco (1981) and later shifted to melodic rock, scoring a wide‑known hit with Chiara from Indiani padani (1992). Fuoritempo on the same album was written by Luciano Ligabue. After a 1995 release, the band reunited in 2008 and returned with a 2013 album on Bagana Records.

Origin: Spilamberto (Modena). Early lineup on C’est Disco: Claudia Lloyd (vocals), Francesco Monti (bass), Wilko (guitar), Graziano Leonelli (drums); label: Italian Records (prod. Oderso Rubini; financed by Red Ronnie). 1992 album Indiani padani under CGD featured Chiara and Fuoritempo (written by Luciano Ligabue, who sang some verses). 1995: La vertigine del mondo. Reunion in 2008; 2013: Siete in attesa di essere collegati con l’inferno desiderato (Bagana Records). Core 1990s lineup included Ulderico “Wilko” Zanni, Romano “Romi” Ferretti, and Lorenzo “Lor” Lunati.

Three DeBaser reviews trace Rats from the post‑punk darkness of C’est Disco (1981) to the melodic rock of Indiani padani (1992) and their 1990s run. Highlights include the hit Chiara and Ligabue’s pen on Fuoritempo. The band paused after 1995, reunited in 2008, and issued an indie album in 2013. A resilient, cult Italian rock story rooted in Emilia‑Romagna.
