Robin Storey is one of the greats of industrial music. With the legendary Zoviet France in Newcastle, he expanded the boundaries of experimental music through the obsessive use of hypnotic loops. As long as they were active, Zoviet France truly created a sound maelstrom capable of altering the sensory perception of listeners. Albums like Mohnomishe, Popular Zoviet Songs And Yoht Music, Loh Land, Shouting At The Ground, to name just a few, are rough diamonds. Then Storey reinvented himself and founded his new project Rapoon with more transcendental and mystical connotations inspired by Indian ragas. Rapoon boasts a vast discography that includes unquestionable masterpieces such as Vernal Crossing, an undisputed must of tribal-ambient. The sound formula involves the massive and obsessive use of loops of ethnic percussion and keyboards with samples of various origins, an alchemy that rightfully places Robin Storey alongside the greats of the genre like Steve Roach, Robert Rich, and Vidna Obmana.
This Ghosts From A Machine (reissued by Zoharum), a compilation from 2010 originally released by the label Vinyl-On-Demand in a triple vinyl edition, had become a sought-after collectible. It was a sort of "best of" from Rapoon as it included alternative versions of tracks belonging to his golden period and, in particular, many of the albums mentioned earlier. The material contained sounded, in any case, like a new record. This new edition, prepared together by Zoharum and the artist himself, is a sort of replica of the original and is available for the first time on 3 CDs in a beautiful digipack limited to 500 copies.
