One of the latest works by the German combo, Mutter shows how evocative and decadent (and gorgeous!) Rammstein's music is.
The album opens with the majestic and symphonic "Mein herz brennt". During the chorus, you reach one of the album's greatest moments. The second chapter is the beautiful "Links 2 3 4", which begins with what seems like a marching step only to suddenly attack the listener with a powerful electronic drum. After that, we arrive at the monumental "Sonne" (one of my favorites), which, after a tension-filled beginning opened by a heavy riff, is characterized by a catchy chorus.
We have reached the powerful "Ich will" and "Fever frei!" which do not give the listener a moment of respite, especially "Fever frei!" where, after a brief keyboard introduction, a guitar explosion devastates the listener's poor ears.
The title track, in my opinion, is a bit disappointing and repetitive but still very melodic and catchy (even my mother likes it!).
The other tracks are more or less of the same level but, I assure you, will not disappoint.
In conclusion, Mutter is an album I would recommend even to those who do not normally listen to Industrial Metal (I myself am a thrasher).
This Mutter is undoubtedly the definitive consecration of Rammstein, who have developed a new and original sound that grows and evolves album after album.
Rammstein have proven once again to be up to the task with a surgical and meticulously crafted production and.... well, let me get back to rocking out....
"'Mutter' is a masterpiece of disarming beauty, deeply introspective and with brilliant melodic insights."
"It is an essential classic in the history of metal and rock in general."
