THE REVIEW

First off, I'm pissed, so I'll review an angry album.

Rummaging through the shelves, I come across this work by RATM; let me reiterate, I don't give a damn if it's already been reviewed. I'll do a live review. Once again, I don't remember anything about this CD.

Here I am, inserting the CD pressing the play button:

  1. TESTIFY: "the usual RATM, powerful sound, dizzying riffs but nothing new."
  2. GUERRILLA RADIO: "well... Morello's riff surprises me, enjoyable, funk-inspired guitar tone... Zack in great form as angry as ever... cool."
  3. CLAM LIKE A BOMB (my track): "nice bass intro, Morello performs his usual 'absurd' but unreachable guitar sound... whatchya say watchya say whaaa!!"
  4. MIC CHECK: "oh god... I'm speechless... is this RATM? great great song! Gut-wrenching bass, they sound like they're playing wrapped in plastic in some department store's condom section! Wait... love these sounds... it's them yes the BEST!!"
  5. SLEEP NOW IN THE FIRE: "Here we go again with the hefty riff and the bass behind, oh my what drum hits... here Zack is even angrier... but they're so great, I like them too much... THE NINA, THE PINTA, THE SANTA MARIAAA!!"
  6. BORN OF A BROKEN MAN: "Ohh finally after the noise a bit of calm... oh no... nevermind, here we go again with the slams, but this time they seem really heavy, and I imagine Tom's smirk playing yet another big riff... lower lip tucked under the lower teeth... and his little guitar played at sternum height (how the hell does he do it??) another gem."
  7. BORN AS GHOSTS: "I like the title, so far the most 'acid' track but not the best... but it's really building up... especially the bass that seems to be screaming because it wants to get out of something, I don't know what it is...".
  8. MARIA: "What's this siren?... oh Tom's guitar, right I forgot for a moment that he makes his guitar do everything except what it was born for... this one is nice too."
  9. VOICE OF THE VOICELESS: "It seems like I'm listening to a band from the legendary and unrepeatable 70s... this riff drives me crazy, but I get angrier and angrier so I stop."

The last three tracks I can't listen to because I risk violently throwing something against the wall.
Ultimately a great album, with the only question mark being the last three tracks which... who knows... maybe they're the best ones... but I don't care.
Now I'm super angry, but RATM are still my favorite band in the genre... how can I deny it?

Let me read it again; bleah... what the hell did I write?? Nani publish it anyway!!

"With this mic device i spit nonfiction. Who got tha power this be my question. Tha mass of tha few in this torn nation? Tha priest tha book or tha congregation?"

This was the most commercially political accurate move in music history, let's say a 'Trojan horse' for the Billboard (in a good sense).

With this last work... my admiration for Zack has increased... Zack has always said that RATM is not a band, they are the RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, and the music is secondary.
