Yeah-uuuuup!
Really gonna punch you out!
A riff from Deniz Tek and... go! The magic is renewed in 2006, intact as if thirty years had not passed since "Radios Appear".
But what the hell have you been doing for thirty years? A second album and then? You scattered across the vast Australian continent to produce other bands: New Race, New Christs... always something new, ignoring that we needed the old instead.
Of Rob Younger's great voice that knows when to speed up and when to slow down. Even today it is more "melodic" in the opener "We’ve Come So Far (To Be Here)" with great bass line work from Jim Dickinson. Of the old Pyp Hoyle on keyboards watching your back in the powerful Zeppelin-like riff of "You Just Make It Worse." Of the silent Chris Masuak who goes all out with his rhythm guitar in the stop and go of "Connected." The new drummer is having a blast whipping the cymbals, and Dr. Tek (yeah... he’s a specialized doctor!) seems to have a machine gun instead of a lead guitar.
But yeah, delude me! Make me believe that, like you, I’m not too old for rock‘n’roll, that I can still not look ridiculous if I dive to the ground on my knees screaming oooh yeah while miming the wah-wah guitar riff of "Locked up."
You have left me at the mercy of these clowns with their flannel shirts and made me wait too many years to get excited again like a fool jumping and shaking my head to the surf sound of the concluding "Zeno Beach" which among the choruses aaaaah - ooooh shouts at me rock will never die!... and instead fades away leaving me with a bitter taste in my mouth, like when a wonderful summer ends and you know there won’t be another one like it.
Thank you. If all goes well, in thirty years we’ll see each other in hell!!!
