I was on vacation in Sicily. No, I can't help myself when I see a record store. I think to myself: "Hopefully they have something decent, not the usual trash
." I enter, greet. The store doesn't look promising. I take a stroll without any hope of finding a CD worth picking up. STOP. QUINTORIGO. IN CATTIVITÁ. "These are the ones from Bentivoglio Angelina
." 15 €. DEAL? IT'S MINE.
At first listen, I'm slightly puzzled. It had something absolutely irritating. I have the impression that Quintorigo wanted to create this effect. It's impressive how John De Leo (who has now left Quintorigo) and his band manage to unsettle the hearing of those who come across this little chest full of surprises.
Yet, listen after listen, the album grows. It’s quite difficult to pinpoint the style of these musicians: it moves from jazz to rock, from blues to electro scores. It’s probably jazz and theater that unite all the members of this group. The most recurring instruments are precisely the strings. But what makes this album a small masterpiece in the Italian scene is John De Leo's voice, absolutely extraordinary in intensity.
It starts with "Illune," a splendid violin riff accompanied by an equally passionate and compelling text. Then it moves to "Clap Hands," a reinterpretation of that Waits monster. This is perhaps the track that leaves the listener most puzzled. We then move to the brilliant "U.S.A e getta." In my opinion, the best piece of the album, along with "Deux heures de soleil." "U.S.A e getta," incredibly relevant, narrates financial communication problems in the globalized era. It unfolds through a practically narrated text.
"Dimentico" is a lullaby written with Fossati. We now arrive at the beautiful trilogy: "Raptus (Il Signore Inesistente)," "Rap-Tus," "Raptus (La dimora Inaccessa)." This rap of about 10 minutes describes the issues of a condominium with a Non-Existent Lord.Absolutely brilliant even for those who are not fans of the genre.
The album closes with two other beautiful tracks. "Illune," the song that concludes the album, is noteworthy; it has the same text as the opening track but with a rather different musical context. It’s quite a bewildering album. Generally recommended for fans of psychedelia, classical music, and Radiohead. Not recommended for fans of MTV music (except Brand:New) or ALL MUSIC (except Extra).
Unmissable.
P.S. The album I purchased contains 71 songs. The first 14 make up the actual album, while the other 57 are 6-7 second tracks except for numbers 51, 69, and 70

Quintorigo sometimes overhaul the structure of the pop song as we know it, other times they enjoy playing with its stylistic elements.
‘In Cattività’ is exciting and eclectic, sometimes twilight, sometimes majestic in the grandeur of the arrangements.
