THE REVIEW

The Queensryche return with this evocative live performance that contains the entire performance of the two Operation: Mindcrime at the Moore. The Ryche have gone all out, and this is already evident from the first notes of the opening track, with an entire band of percussionists accompanying the band on "Anarchy-X". The band is in outstanding form and Geoff Tate is at his best, constantly supported by the talented Pamela Moore in the backing vocals of almost all the tracks.

There’s no need to comment on the quality of the songs, especially those from the first "Mindcrime". Songs like "Speak", "Suite sister Mary", or "Eyes of a stranger" require no introduction, and, with the appropriate comparisons, one can also appreciate some tracks from the second part like "I'm American", "The Chase", or "Murderer". The concert flows beautifully: the songs are well interpreted (those with the DVD can notice this even better), excellently played (despite the absence of the historical guitarist DeGarmo), and with a very clean production. Compared to the studio recordings, some instrumental parts, especially in the second half, have been modified for the occasion, probably to allow more time for scene and costume changes.

It is a pity, however, that Ronnie James Dio is missing (he is only present in playback) in the role of Dr. X, his presence would have further increased the value of this live performance, but so be it.

In conclusion, I recommend everyone to purchase this live, especially in the DVD version, where you can understand more about the plot thanks to the footage and many actors on stage, and where you can enjoy Geoff Tate in "Mario Merola" style, complete with interpretation and drama on stage.

Summary by Bot

Queensrÿche delivers a compelling live rendition of both Operation: Mindcrime albums with exceptional musicianship and vocal performances. The concert flows seamlessly with excellent production and engaging stage drama, highlighted by Geoff Tate and backup vocals from Pamela Moore. Although Ronnie James Dio's presence is missed, the live show remains powerful and highly recommended, especially the DVD version for its immersive scenes and storytelling.
