Formed in Bellevue, Washington, Queensrÿche are an American progressive/heavy metal band known for landmark concept and progressive-leaning albums such as Operation: Mindcrime and Empire.

Breakthrough with Operation: Mindcrime (1988) and commercial success with Empire (1990). Geoff Tate was the longtime vocalist; Chris DeGarmo was a primary songwriter who left the band. After internal disputes the band continued with Todd La Torre as vocalist in the early 2010s; their style spans heavy metal, progressive elements and hard rock.

DeBaser's reviews celebrate Queensrÿche's high points (Operation: Mindcrime, Promised Land, Empire) while noting uneven later releases. Several reviews discuss the Geoff Tate era and the later return-to-form under Todd La Torre. Readers will find detailed takes on concept albums, progressive elements, and stylistic shifts.
