THE REVIEW

In 2004, following the success of "Miodio," this nice little disc by P+ was released, featuring Gian Maria Accusani on guitar, Imelio on bass, Poles on vocals, and Parigi on drums.

The novelty, compared to the previous work, is that here the old (not in years, but in an affectionate sense) leader Accusani wanted to give the album a more "electronic" touch, creating the drum parts on the computer and then having drummer Paolo Parigi (already present on P+'s first record, "Testa plastica") play over them.

The result is a muffled, disorienting effect, very much like Jesus and Mary Chain, but more powerful.

In terms of quality, the record could be quite good, if it weren't for three fillers that disturb the listening experience: the rearrangement of "Stonata," featured in the album "3," the experimental track "Fai da te," which, according to the group, is a song that can be assembled at home by any listener with some familiarity with music software on a PC, and a second version of "Sono un'immondizia."

The episodes to positively highlight are undoubtedly the wild "Occhi a spillo," the wicked "Sono un'immondizia," and the depressive single "Luca." "Più niente," instead, is the classic ballad that GM includes on almost every record and is quite catchy.

After this album, the leader will disband the group to focus on his new creation, "Sick tamburo," where he will increase his focus on electronics. But this, as they say, is another story...

Summary by Bot

Gioia nera (2004) marks Prozac+’s shift toward electronic-infused rock, guided by Gian Maria Accusani. Though some filler tracks slightly weaken the album, highlights like Occhi a spillo and Sono un’immondizia stand out. The album’s drum programming creates a muffled, powerful sound reminiscent of Jesus and Mary Chain. Post-release, Accusani moved on to explore more electronic music with Sick tamburo.

Prozac+

Prozac+ are a pop‑punk band from Pordenone formed in the mid‑1990s by Gian Maria Accusani, Eva Poles, and Elisabetta Imelio. They broke through with the 1997/1998 single Acida and released albums including Testa plastica, Acido acida, 3, Miodio, and Gioia nera. Known for short, catchy tracks and darker youth‑centric themes, they went on hiatus after 2005, appearing at MTV Day 2007; members later worked with Sick Tamburo and Rezophonic.
