"Ascolta," released in record stores in May 2004, is the longest album by the Pooh, with 14 songs, proving that almost 40 years into their history, they still have much to say. It is the last work with Stefano D'Orazio, who, before leaving the group, delivered two songs entirely sung by him, "Per dimenticare te" and "Dove sono gli altri tre." The latter is a witty and self-ironic song about the relationship with his three colleagues and the fact that the public perceives them as a single entity, to the point of calling their children "i figli dei Pooh." The work represents a remarkable musical evolution for the longest-running Italian music group towards Brit-pop, demonstrating mastery in various genres. The title track is captivating, emotional, and immediately paves the way for the great return of the Pooh after the musical interlude of "Pinocchio." Then comes "Capita quando capita," with a beautiful video where the four of Ave Maria demonstrate being just as many pieces of one of the longest and most successful projects in the entire history of Italian and beyond music. Balance between solemnity and sweetness, irony and seriousness, represent the ideal blend of undoubtedly valuable work, especially when considering gems like "Scusami," "Cosa sarà di noi," "Quando anche senza di me," culminating in the final moment of this monumental work: "Domani," where the fantastic four bestowed by heaven to change the fortunes of our music express themselves to the fullest in sublime musical phrases, and the vocal result is indeed exceptional. The cover is beautiful, featuring Red Canzian's daughter Chiara leaning against the walls of the Genoa aquarium. Roby and Red the solemn ones, Dodi and Stefano the sweet ones: the miracle is complete, all that's left is to listen to the last flourish of one of the most incredible careers in the history of the second art.
