THE REVIEW

Spectacle... psychedelia... progressive... ruins... lava flows... what am I talking about? I'm talking about "Live at Pompeii".

The Pink Floyd, a band that became established over 5 years from 1967, were invited to perform in the amphitheater of Pompeii for a psychedelic concert like no other.

Why Pompeii? You need to ask Adrian Maben, director of the film-documentary (yes, besides being a concert, it's also a documentary). In an interview, he answers this question with a simple "I just knew it had to be done there!". Silence, an atmosphere of mystery, violence, and love hidden among the ruins of a great historical city... better than Pompeii? The location is set.

What else? Adrian Maben has the brilliant idea to not just shoot a concert film, as mentioned, but to capture scenes of the band's daily life, at Abbey Road, while eating and joking, while recording material in the studio... and that's how Live at Pompeii was born.

The tracks to be played are partly chosen by the director, Maben, who advises Pink Floyd to start with psychedelic-themed pieces from the '60s. Thus, A Saucerful of Secrets and Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun became the candidates that then won, along with Careful with That Axe Eugene, an impressive piece at the highest levels of psychedelia.
The progressive Echoes could not be missed... the highlight can never be discarded. Divided into two parts, the Echoes suite reaches the pinnacle of sublimity at Pompeii. Enough words!

Suddenly, the man with the marked features escapes from his dimension; becomes a deeper, undefined silhouette. That man becomes a note. A sequence of notes.

Despite this world boasting billions of inhabitants, in reality, each one of us is alone. And this solitude is nothing more than the constant search to synergistically combine with another like us.
