Peter Punk

I am writing a review about Peter Punk (now known as Cattive Abitudini) because I see that there are none here on DeBaser and because I think they are one of the few valid bands left on the Italian punk-rock scene.

Peter Punk returns to the scene after the EP "Sarò Pornostar" with this album with a fast, engaging, and melodic sound, where even the lyrics, always in an ironic way, have significant importance. The record is called 'XI' and it was released precisely on September 11th, a date hard to forget for everyone: in fact, the cover features a peace flag, a topic Peter Punk has always fought for.

The album opens with "Il Valzer Della Bevuta" which starts with a waltz sung then lands on a determined punkrock; followed by "A Letto Con Selen", a fast song featuring a guitar solo, with ironically themed hard-text lyrics; the 3rd track is "Chi Non Salta..." which is a real protest against our country obviously surrounded by a punk-rock sound that has always distinguished Peter Punk.

Then we find "Il Buffone Di Corte", a song full of rhythm changes, starting with a guitar solo, transitioning through ska, and finishing with heavy and fast punk-rock; The ninth track is called "Undici" which is really an anthem against the war (noteworthy here is the vocal participation of Pul-Pul from Ska-p); then follows a fun song called "Quello Che Mi Va" where Peter Punk expresses the disapproval of those who live based on prejudices.

As mentioned, in their songs Peter Punk practically talks about everything, moving from ironic and fun topics and lyrics to reflective texts. And the thing I like most about these guys is that they have remained down to earth without ever swelling their heads, guys tied to their traditions and customs.. and as someone says, they might receive some criticism for the always too ironic lyrics... but as Peter Punk says... life is already hard enough on its own... do we also have to remember it in the songs?
