THE REVIEW

The Great Southern Trendkill, masterpiece or failure? It depends on which type of Pantera you fell in love with. In my opinion, it's a great album, the usual devastating grooves, the quintessential bassist Rex Brown, the powerful drumming of Vinnie - we all know how great Pantera are as musicians. We start right away with the very powerful Title Track which begins with a scream from Phil that is devastating on the first listen, but then you get used to it; it took me a while to appreciate the album because of the Screams, but now I can say they all fit perfectly. A devastating chorus "The Great Southern Trendkill, Fuck Yeah!" that hooks you immediately. The beautiful "War Nerve," now a classic, aggressive like almost the entire album. "13 step no where," with a drum intro to kick off the song. I previously mentioned that "War Nerve" was violent like almost the entire album, and that's because "10's" is the lightest along with "Suicide Note pt.1," practically just vocals and acoustic, leading into "Suicide Note pt.2," in my opinion the most violent on the album. Having said that, I can say it's a monstrous album, the band's best (in my opinion). Highly recommended to listen and buy, also because the Title track alone is worth the purchase, followed by one great song after another.

Anselmo’s most devastating screams let us know the album is truly wicked.

After listening to TGST, you immediately realize Pantera’s evolution from ‘Far Beyond Driven.’

The perfect evolution of Pantera’s sound, a huge sonic shift, the endpoint to which Reinventing The Steel will follow.

Buy it, listen to it, enjoy every note because it’s really worth it! The trend is dead!!!
