Tommy Bolin — Energy 1972 USA, Jazz, Fusion, Hard, Blues Rock

Released posthumously in '99, this album collects unreleased tracks aired on the radio and recordings taken from bootlegs from the early '70s, when Tommy played in his own band called "Energy", a group that split up before recording any albums; in it, various musical genres are represented, such as jazz with "Naked Edge", fusion, hard rock with "Heartlight" and "Miss Christmas", blues rock, psychedelic rock, funk rock, and heavy metal.

Tommy started playing guitar at a young age, inspired by music thanks to Elvis the Pelvis

In '75 and '76 Tommy also played with "Deep Purple", replacing the legendary Richard Hugh Blackmore.

In a 1975 interview, Tommy described himself as a completely self-taught guitarist who played by ear, saying: "I only took four lessons, I know what to play, but I don't know any scales because I never bothered to learn them."

He was only twenty-five years old when, in Miami, he was invited to open the concert for Peter Kenneth Frampton and later also opened the live show for Geoffrey Arnold "Jeff" Beck; it was December 3rd, '76. Before leaving, Jeff Beck said to him: "Take care of yourself," to which Tommy Bolin replied: "I've taken care of myself my whole life. Don't worry about me. I'll be around for a long time yet..." A few hours later, Thomas Richard Bolin died of a heroin overdose and other substances, including a mix of alcohol, cocaine, and barbiturates.
