The "Ibis" formed in '73 thanks to guitarist/singer Nico Di Palo, after he left the "New Trolls". Their debut album "Canti d'innocenza canti d'esperienza" was released almost immediately after, and since they hadn’t yet found a name for the band, they used the names of the musicians (Nico, Gianni, Frank, Maurizio).
The sound of "Ibis" was very close to European bands, like "Yes" and "Genesis," so much so that the musicians dropped Italian for the English language in this second album, probably also because there was a change in the lineup: drummer Gianni Belleno left, and was replaced by Richard Parnell, former member of "Atomic Rooster".
In any case, this work remains an example of avant-garde musical creativity in that second half of the 20th century. The lineup included: Domenico Di Palo on guitar and lead vocals Frank Laugelli on bass Maurizio Salvi on keyboards including Harpsichord, Piano, Fender Rhodes, Hohner Clavinet, Hammond b3, Arp Synth, Moog, Eminent & Mellotron Richard Parnell on drums and vocals
