In '74, when he recorded this album, his band included Americans James Wesley "Red" Holloway, a jazz saxophonist; drummer Eulis Soko Richardson (who, in addition to Mayall's "Bluesbreakers," also played with "Ike & Tina Turner"); Samuel Lawrence Taylor (who was also a member of "Canned Heat") on bass; and the two guitarists, Randy Resnick & Hightide Harris. That year, he toured Europe and Asia with these very musicians.
During the following decade, John Brumwell Mayall continued to change musicians and record labels, releasing about twenty albums. For the most part, the music from this phase of his career was quite different from the electric blues played by rock musicians, incorporating pop, funk, and jazz elements.
