Ryuichi Sakamoto feat David Sylvian and Ingrid Chavez - Heartbeat (Tainai Kaiki II) (1992)
A kilometer from my house Battiato Franco used to organize the festival "il Violino e la Selce," those were beautiful years, maybe too much so. It couldn't last.
Bjork, Beck, Einsturzende, PJ Harvey, Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed, Sakamoto and many, many others.
None of us knew Sakamoto very well.
There were no more than 300 of us in front of the stage but this didn't seem to matter much to the artist.
No diva attitude, about half an hour of slightly experimental stuff, then an hour of soundtracks with the orchestra.
Two hours had passed, we could have left and it still would have been fantastic.
Then? The "magic" of interaction—every time he came out for encores we would call him back and then he'd return again and again, I think he had even more fun than we did.
