At Sunday mass, the parish priest asked the faithful at the end of the homily:
- How many of you have managed to forgive your enemies?
Everyone raised their hands, except for an old lady in the second row.
- Maria, are you not willing to forgive your enemies? asked the priest.
“I have no enemies,” she replied sweetly.
- “That’s very rare!!!” - said the priest. “How old are you?”
- 108 years old
Everyone present stood up and gave the little lady a long round of applause.
- “Come and tell us how to live 108 years and have no enemies,” said the priest.
The old lady gets up with difficulty, goes to the altar, takes the microphone with trembling hands and, looking at the congregation, all moved, says:
