Naturally, one or at most two people will understand what I’m talking about. But it’s not like I care.
Yes, because this third season has definitively convinced me: the first one, above all, I found rather disorienting – having read the Good Doctor’s trilogy at least ten times – but I understood that the language couldn’t be Asimov’s, actually more of a political intrigue than a Space Opera. Then there are no women, apart from Bayta who in the novels has a role opposite to the one in the Series: Asimov was the son of a different America, for heaven’s sake!
So Demerzel, Salvor Hardin, Gaal Dornick and many other characters have been shifted into female roles: but not because sex sells, but because the language of TV series has an audience very different from us old nostalgic fans of Golden Age SF.
So I recommend you watch it: don’t think about the books (which you surely haven’t read) but rather about pure aesthetics in a philosophical sense. Script, World Building, performances, narrative pacing, cinematography; simply exceptional.
In short, they took something from the fifties and made it into something else. And what a something else! convinto: Serial: femminile: visione:
