In the full fury of my 15 years, I bought this revealing vinyl. I discovered why the guitarist Mick Green was so influential to American music, even though he was English to the core, the inventor of a new guitar sound technique that allowed him to play "Lead and Rhythm" simultaneously. Pure energy, vibrant, aggressive, dazzling songs without frills, with all the vigor of great rock & roll. The rhythm section is combat-ready with a tight and relentless metronome. The Pirates, fronted by singer Johnny Kidd, made waves on club stages in the 60s, and this 1977 record, which may seem like a mere reunion without Johnny (who passed away a few years earlier), is not so; rather, it demonstrates that youth alone does not fuel the engine of rock & roll. This band made rock & roll history in England and should not be forgotten.
