Scotland's response to the divine Prefab Sprout is called Deacon Blue, and Raintown is simply an album for eternal love. The intro Born In A Storm is the best introduction to Ricky Ross's voice: piano turns, deep bass that remind me of another intro, that of Telegraph Road, and one of the most expressive voices ever. Dignity is undoubtedly the Scottish anthem, as sublime and emotional as it gets, one of those songs that always stirs something inside you. The same feelings are conveyed by Loaded, an exemplary Pop composition where not a single note is out of place. And what can we say about Ragman, Town To Be Blamed, Love's Great Fears, or Chocolate Girl, with the voices of Ricky and Lorraine McIntosh so perfectly tuned they could make Paddy and Wendy from Prefab jealous. A must-have from 1987! 💎
