Let’s talk about this Taylor Swift, who, as I’m writing, seems to be performing – weather permitting – in Milan. I thought I had downloaded her music years ago. So I went to check what was on my iMac, which contains a rather vast music archive (more than a terabyte), yet the new operating system has scrambled it pretty well. Yes, because to make browsing easier, I divided all the albums by "genres," and she came up in the "Country" section. I didn’t remember she was also listed under "Pop," nor that she had become a superstar. In her early Country albums, the cover always featured a close-up of her (beautiful, to be honest) face, never a full-body shot since the girl was as thin as a rake! The albums were quite listenable, but certainly her pale voice couldn't even be compared to those – to name just two – of Emmylou Harris or Dolly Parton: beyond the absolutely superior talent of the former, she was younger and, more beautiful; and the latter famously had the body (especially the front) known all over the world. But today, just a bit of plastic surgery here, a bit of hype there, and voilà, the latest new queen of Pop is born!!! 12,000 euros for one of her concerts? If they gave that to me, maybe – but it would depend on my mood – I’d go see her; but it’s not guaranteed. Instead, feel and see here the great Emmylou: despite that horrible outfit, she wins a hundred to zero! The Band & Emmylou Harris 'Evangeline' 1978.avi
