The road divides the village, to the east the church, the cemetery, and the compulsory schools. To the west, the river, the taverns, and the tobacco shop. In 1889, the parish priest had to write to his superior: "I have ten taverns in my parish that do not close even during services, two leather tanneries, and an arsenal and a foundry, where there is no work on feast days, but blasphemy reigns."
Yet among the few hundred inhabitants/visitors, we have had some illustrious figures, first and foremost Diego (see Vasco Rossi), then Patrizia (see Corrado Mantoni), an athlete with 3 or 4 Olympics in her resume, and some captains of industry. Not bad for a small village nestled between the pope's town and a wealthy industrial city. At every crossroads, a bunch of flowers, but that is merely fate. Daniele Silvestri - L'autostrada
