you who have never arrived
in my arms, Beloved, who were lost
from the very beginning,
I don't even know what songs
you would like. I have given up trying
to recognize you in the tumultuous wave of the
next moment. All the immense images
within me - the distant and deeply felt landscape,
the cities, the towers and the bridges, the
unexpected turns on the path,
and those powerful lands that once
throbbed with the life of the gods -
arise within me. to understand
you, who elude me forever.
