Guys: I’m itching! Actually, Fremen! February 28 is approaching. And this time I’m going to the cinema. Entering half an hour after the scheduled time, of course: this time I won’t let them shove their damn advertising down my throat!
I've already said everything I wanted about the book (the first and only one I've read from the Saga), and I’m pleased that those who don’t share my opinion have expressed their disagreement in a calm and respectful manner. Unlike the current trend, where any criticism of one's beliefs is taken as a personal insult, and unspeakable insults are hurled at those who criticize it. So, BRÁO DEB!
For this reason, I feel allowed to confirm my aversion to Lynch’s film (there’s a LOT worse, for heaven’s sake!) by citing an excerpt from the excellent article in today’s CdS that I have right before my eyes, in front of a good Merlot. "... he was able to continue to delve" Villeneuve "into the pages of Herbert that David Lynch got stuck on in 1984, after Alejandro Jodorowsky, despite the magnificent storyboard drawn by Moebius, was unable to find the right fit."
I repeat: maximum respect for those who love that film! But I saw much of the aforementioned storyboard because it was published by that GREAT magazine of Illustrated Narrative that was "Comic Art". And I assure you that the idea of the "Lord of the Ring" (masterfully etched by Escher - the ants, remember?) was very far from what was seen in the film. Ugh!
