The Loons-Between Grey Slates
Inside Out Your Mind
In a remarkable period of “welcome back f***ers” - I admit I wasn't feeling it anymore - I listened to, (re)discovered garage bands of soul and blood with, as per tradition, the most diverse influences from beat to punk, from psychedelia to R&B - from power pop to folk, from rockabilly to mod, even soul and even hard rock. In short, the essence of Rock'n'Roll from true beasts to the wild scream of “f*** your virtuosic and fast scales of shit and your four octaves of f***ing vocal range.” From 1990 onwards, with a few comebacks of old geezers, savansadir.

MIKE STAX, by the way, and what the hell. How can one summarize this Noble in just a few lines?! A true crazy fetishist. Crawdaddys and Tell-Tale Hearts would be more than enough for generations. His latest band The Loons is a concentration of everything. Four albums, so far, in the new millennium (maybe the first from '99 but it doesn’t matter much). A distillation of all previous experiences. Here’s a Classic Garage track and a power pop ride infused with lysergic acid. Today we’re hanging out with them… tomorrow I don’t know.
