"DUBLIN"
All these years we’ve said so many things
We’ve done so little
Planned a thousand trips
And then always stayed at home
With unambitious projects and too many dishes to wash
In front of a lonely man eating a banana
You ran away under the excuse of being hungry
Before I could finish
My tired, yet again, "everything okay?"
And then it rained for two days
Non-stop and without God
We left our umbrellas
Outside a multiplex
With the excuse of a horror film
With distant seats and the wet smell of carpet
That reminds me of Dublin
I don’t like Dublin (x8)
"STONE"
I’m carrying a tangled mess that I can no longer untangle
/ No matter how you turn it, it's heavy
And I'm not so sure that the solution is there
But that it lies at the bottom of the sea
/ But that it lies at the bottom of the sea
Like sad songs when it’s raining outside
Like clenched fists in pockets on empty tracks
If I have enough strength you’ll see me grow older
And slowly discover that time isn’t enough and breath isn’t enough
Except to learn to let oneself float
With a stone on the belly and a nice thought in my head
And after all, when it's not raining outside
When it’s not raining outside, it’s not bad at all
It’s not bad at all
(x2)
"HEAVINESS"
I wish the heaviness was a great magician
That could pull a smile from you
Because believe me, with that face, you look like a stray
You locked yourself in the bathroom with an old trick
I’ll pretend everything is fine when you come back to bed
And don’t come tell me that everything sucks, that it’s sad
When sometimes I’d like to cry and turn as red as you do
So ugly that you remind me of beauty
Feeling alive again
I’m taking you to the cinema tonight
But you’re paying
Because I don’t have a job
(x2)
"NOT TO BE BATs"
Do you remember the old man at the beach kiosk?
He talked to me about bats
Forced to hide like rats by day
And at night to fly like birds
I think about it often, you know
I just wanted a beer (x2)
And you don’t speak, your head resting on the road
You don't hear, maybe you’re sleeping
While I drive towards the city
/ that one day will be home / and once was like this
I’ll take you not far at all
Not to be bats
Not to be bats at least
At least not to be bats
Not to be bats / Not to be bats
"COUNTRY"
If the most compelling story weren’t also the most embarrassing
With its winning would often beat the defeated
But telling and forgiving oneself is sometimes unforgivable
So today you speak
Tell me something that warms me
Because outside the sun is shining and here it’s freezing cold
In this little country, I only know this road
(x2)
Let’s go for a walk and not to a shopping mall
To hear young people poorly dressed swearing
Even if the bells woke us up
In a bad mood
Take me away from here
In this little country, I only know this road
(x2)
Tell me something that warms me
(x4)
"UNDERSTANDING SEPTEMBER"
I’ve been trying to understand September for a lifetime
But it’s not for me
It’s stronger than me
Even though I like to feel its scent
All these years we’ve said so many things
We’ve done so little
Planned a thousand trips
And then always stayed at home
With unambitious projects and too many dishes to wash
In front of a lonely man eating a banana
