'Tales From Monographic Oceans': a freewheeling journey through a stretch of sea, cutting across the isthmuses of some discographies (XTC B-sides, alternatives and more 55, 19)
'The B-side is important, even in music...': in other words, it’s too easy, with folks like this, to cruise through the official discography at 33 and 1/3. But here we want evidence 'e contrariis', we’re not after the easy hits.
Since, with these pieces written a bit off-kilter and either left out or relegated to the back of singles, 12” records, and various EPs, ANYONE (I mean ANYONE: think of your favorite pop-rock author and they’ll fit in here, for sure) could have built a career far more than brilliant. This is pop... even if deliberately left in the corner.
