"Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence"《圣诞快乐劳伦斯先生》
I would like to pay tribute to this great artist who left us at the end of March. He departed so discreetly.
In Fano, my city for about a decade under Battiato's artistic direction, "the violin and the flint" took place. This allowed me, with just two bike rides, to see concerts by:
Bjork, PJ Harvey, Lou Reed, Sakamoto, Bregovic, Trilok Gurtu, and many others I can't recall! Sakamoto, in front of no more than five hundred people, performed everything from his most minimal pieces to his soundtracks with the orchestra. It was a magical evening—three hours of concert plus various encores, showcasing his professionalism! Then the administration changed, and in summer we shifted to local festivals, a summer carnival, the "gnocca" festival in general, and a lot of degradation, to the point that Fano now, between Senigallia and Pesaro, attracts a quarter of the tourists or events.
I’m also including the version of Forbidden Colors with David Sylvian, seen live in Bologna at the theater—a big disappointment, but that’s another story. Goodbye Sakamoto (I hope that he and many other magical artists of the last century, unfortunately no longer with us, are together reminiscing).
