For some time he had returned to the city of his adolescence but lived there like an outcast, begging and sleeping outdoors, experiencing crises of pure bipolar nature, drinking and doing everything he could find within reach.
He is buried in the cemetery in Fort Lauderdale, and on the tombstone, he is noted as Jaco John Francis Pastorius III.
