"I met him at the Sanremo Jazz Festival in the early '80s.
I had just started playing, and being part of that festival's program was significant for me.
After the concert, I saw Chet coming from the back of the room towards the stage while I was putting my instrument away.
My heart started pounding so hard that I risked collapsing to the floor with the trumpet in my hand.
He approached me and, in English, said: 'I heard your version of "Round Midnight."
'Beautiful, well done, congratulations!'
And he left with the same calmness with which he had appeared from the back of the Casinò room."
