This album, steeped in pessimism and a sense of loss, is for me the masterpiece of a discography that nonetheless includes at least 3/4 albums of the highest caliber. Mark Eitzel, who has indeed been one of the best songwriters of his generation, has slowly, sadly, quietly slipped away.
