It is not a simple poem. And it's not easy to find a worthy translation. Listen to the voice that sings (especially the opening), but the continuation is also melody, rhythm, harmony. This is why poetry does not need any musical accompaniment; at most, abstract sounds perhaps, detached from classical music parameters.
Never confuse poetry with song lyrics, even if the latter can also have great value: when they do... Both use words, but they are two different worlds.
Poetry is a lofty gesture, very hard to achieve. Not a cheap commodity, and not rhymes from a storyteller.
Unfortunately, in this country, we don't have a tradition of poets reading their own "compositions"; aside from Ungaretti, even Montale - with less conviction - and two or three unpretentious contemporaries. The situation is different in Anglo-Saxon countries: a natural act.
If words for songs are referred to as "poetry," then get angry. They are trying to change the meaning of things, creating confusion. They are ignorant people or more easily, scoundrels acting in bad faith; as always.
Defend noble culture with all your might. Don't let TV whisper "shopping tips" to you. Shut that cesspool once and for all. Consider the people involved as servants of power. Nameless slaves. Toxic microorganisms.
