Dear Deb-maniacs, in the previous triptych I introduced you to the sounds of the Brazilian goddess Tania Maria, specifically publishing her sublime “Funky Tamborim.” As is often done by psycho(logists, chiatrists, therapists, and Co.) or even more frequently by children in word games (well … maybe archaic children!), I wanted to create a mishmash of triptychs associating ideas around the word Tamburello, or Tamburino, in short:
TAMBOURINE
Turning to sounds that resonate more with me, the first track of the musical triad is:
1) Soul Tambourine, Bettye LaVette - 1973
It’s the B-side of her version of the song Your Turn to Cry (come on, I’m sneaking in a bonus track!)
Soul Tambourine
BETTYE LAVETTE YOUR TURN TO CRY
(I’m a bit ashamed because out of the three songs in the gruesome triptych, this is the only one I didn’t know, just as I’ve only now discovered Bettye)
