Christmas Island, where you would rather be than face another day of immense chaos, impossible traffic, ladies with packages, unhappy children with unhappy looks (and the opposite), people wishing you well and you mentally sending them to hell while wishing them back, John Lennon singing "Happy Christmas (War Is Over)" from every store speaker, Santa Clauses shouting "Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas" and then cursing loudly.
Better Christmas Island, then, bleak, repetitive, and alienating, but better.
