Dream of the Return
@[AlephZero]

Music by Pat Metheny, lyrics by Pedro Aznar
I sent a poem to the sea
so it would carry my questions and my voice
Like a little boat, it vanished in the foam
I asked it not to change course
without having seen the open sea
and in dreams to tell me its visions
And if it never returned
I would have known if it had arrived
To travel my whole life
to sail on calm surfaces or sink in the storm
it matters little how, if no port awaited it
I waited so long for the message
that I had forgotten to return to the sea
and so I thought I had lost that poem
And I shouted all my anger to the skies
In the end, I found it, but it was written in the sand
like a prayer
The sea struck me in my veins
and freed my heart
