one of the most discreet, kind, and charming men I have ever known.
Elegant like his music, like his life.
In the few encounters over the years, he never failed to ask about my wife and my son, whose names he remembered perfectly at his age, despite having seen them only once.
In 2010, I invited him to the Nuoro Seminars to give a masterclass alongside Enrico Intra.
He spoke with the students exactly as he played, at an almost imperceptible volume.
The students had grown accustomed to that discreet sound, just like the one he produced when he performed at the Badu ‘e Carros Prison in front of a large group of inmates.
Franco was a gentleman like few others, and his music was a mirror of his noble soul.
A soul that life didn't spare but which, despite everything, he always lived as a great gift just like music.
We will all miss his style and his precious teachings.
