6th place: Nuvola numero 9
After the illegal Manifesto, from which Samuele emerged with a few broken bones, and the best of "Psyco," Samuele locked himself in the studio to compose the album that had the shortest gestation period in his entire career. While Samuele usually takes years to finish an album, this Nuvola numero nove took only 5 months to complete. The result is a carefree and pop record, with a brightness that hasn’t been seen for quite a while in his production, featuring some tracks that have already become instant classics in his repertoire, such as En e Xanax or Complimenti. If we must nitpick, the memorable masterpiece that can be found in almost all of Samuele's albums is missing, but it’s something we can overlook. Certainly, there are more pyrotechnic and refined moments both in terms of arrangements (Settimo cielo) and lyrics (Reazione umana), along with the urban fairy tale of Desirée, the critique of our country in Chiamami Napoleone, the mediocre and paradoxical life of DAMS students, and toxic love stories like those in Ultima chance and Spia polacca. In conclusion, we can say with certainty that this Nuvola is not Bersani's deepest album or one with the most memorable tracks from his repertoire, but it remains a truly nice light and very original record (and when has Samuele ever not done something where he puts a lot of himself into it?)
Picky rating: 8+
