Telephone And Rubber Band
The telephone
has been silent for days and days.
But the other in the farthest neighborhood
has been calling breathlessly, in vain
for entire weeks.
So let it be silent forever,
a ridiculous shell hanging on the wall,
while elsewhere hulls shudder as they flee,
sovereigns break exiles the bitter wave:
may at least they be removed.
