"Synalpheus pinkfloydi"

[ Synalpheus pinkfloydi Anker, Hultgren, De Grave, 2017, commonly known as Pink Floyd Pistol Shrimp, is a decapod crustacean belonging to the superfamily Alpheoidea. ]

Described in 2017, this species was dedicated to the rock band Pink Floyd because morphologically it possesses a large pink (pink in English) claw, the right one, with which it is capable of producing a sound (which can reach up to 210 decibels) meant to stun and kill its prey.

The choice of the name is linked to the fact that the band, according to an urban legend, during a concert killed the fish in a pond due to the deafening noise of their music.
