7th place: Songs, Prayers and Dances of the II Millennium - Europe Section
After an excellent Socialism and Barbarism, the CCCP surprisingly shift gears. The new tracks are composed of 80s pop shades, in a rather flashy and chaotic manner. Old tracks like B.B.B and È vero (originally U.N) are completely distorted and ruined by mediocre interpretations and musical backgrounds that verge on the ridiculous. However, one can always find solace in a few small and great gems: besides the opener Svegliami, which already hints at the style of CSI, we can find the ironic Fedeli alla lira, the beautiful Roco, Roco, Rosso, the half-punk Conviene, the Oriental and Litfiba-style (with a dedication to @Ditta) Palestina, and Mother’s prayer. In the blink of an eye, we reach the finale with And the radio plays, a pop track that manages to be catchy and of quality, proving that the pop outfit fits the CCCP quite well, the slightly unnecessary but musically good Vota Fatur, and the credits of Reclame. It is known that Songs, Prayers and Dances is the least successful album by the CCCP, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it contains a handful of truly impressive highlights.
