And so the good Carella made a swift transition from It to the legendary Rca, where he would stay for a short time. During that brief period, only one album would be released, Sfinge. This latest gem by Carella differs significantly from the previous album, as the sounds lean towards a rock infused with tropical influences. The opening track, Stai molto attenta, makes it clear the path he has chosen. However, there are still nods to the past, notably Si, si può, a clever jab at Battisti and one of Carella's more commercial pieces. The album also features more subdued moments like the stunning Mare sopra e sotto and Che notte, which hinted at the direction Carella was charting. Alongside this, there are the usual episodes brimming with sensuality such as Sex show and Contatto, as well as true highlights like Sfinge, a piece imbued with a tropical breeze, and Riflessione finale, something that is hard to classify as a song and one of Carella's instrumental masterpieces. In conclusion, Sfinge represents the crowning achievement of what Carella had produced up to that point, uniting fresh music with lyrics that are never banal. Unfortunately, after Sfinge, there was a long hiatus during which Carella was not heard from. Rating: 10 The gem: Riflessione finale
