Second album, second race, second place. With the song Barbara, Carella competes at the Sanremo festival, finishing second. After this milestone, he releases his second work, Barbara e altri Carella, where the musician evolves the great insights of Vocazione into successful pop music. Starting with the famous Barbara, a vibrant funk turned up to eleven with a sensual lyrics typical of Panella. The great merit of these songs is that they still sound modern today, and I dare say that if this album had been released today, it would have been a resounding success. An example of this modernity is the second track Foto, which wouldn’t be out of place among all the It-pop hits of Calcutta and his peers (in fact, artists like Calcutta take more than one cue from Carella). The album features other great pop fragments like Amara and the already released Malamore, the colossal gem Carmè, the restless Paris, and the instrumental Oh Rai! In short, in Barbara e altri Carella, the casual listener can find material for all tastes: well-crafted pop tracks and darker pieces, ballads, instrumentals, dances to the rhythm of funk, and above all, lots of originality.
