Or the Beatles' tribute to black music...

In this delightful little column, Uncle Dislo will guide you along, but keep your distance (only DeBaserians with very long arms, please...) through the well-trodden discography of The Four, in search of the influences of "black" music that often tinted it, and the covers of songs by American black artists, discovering, for instance, their fondness for the repertoire of black female vocal groups. Sometimes we will include original tracks performed with decidedly black techniques, especially vocal ones, but also instrumental.

Enough of the preamble, let's proceed.........

The Dirty Mac - Yer Blues (4K Live)

............ So, basically, we can't take it anymore, first they write us our first moderately successful song, and we stick to the blues, faithful to our line, remaining one of the many British blues bands... then we get convinced and shift towards a whiter rock, we hit it big, but we’re still not satisfied, we chase after rock and like them, we experiment with string quartets and unusual instruments, to the point we seem just like them... then they dive into psychedelia, and imitating them, we throw out a half-hearted and even less successful record, with ideas clearly copied from them... then, in a burst of pride, we pull out our roots as purists of the blues, and hey, maybe we finally hit the mark, come on, let’s do a television show like they did, it can't be worse than theirs... and, indeed, in this show, we invite one of them, the one closest to us, as if to say that in our show one of them pays tribute to us... and, damn, far from paying us tribute, he blasts a song of theirs, sung as if there’s no tomorrow, with the best white blues guitarist of the time on lead, with Hendrix's drummer, and lacking a bassist, he takes one of us on bass, too bad he's our guitarist...

In short, whether together or with just one of you, you even steal the blues from us, just for the hell of it, when the show is made of stuff that’s never really been yours, but in your hands everything becomes right, as it should be, even the blues...
But when the hell are you going to dissolve, so we don’t have to chase after you anymore? Maybe then three or four killer records will come to us as well....
