My all-time favorite movie is The Conversation by F. F. Coppola from '74. I didn't see the film until a few years later. Gene Hackman, in this film, embodies for me the dedication to one’s work, the innocence of a lonely and fearful man, the timid intelligence wasted in a trap. The soundtrack is by David Shire and features more or less the same theme rearranged according to the film's plot. It conveys a strong sense of loneliness and resignation. I love this work.
